Podcast Feature: Women & Mythology Grow Their Hands Back With The Art of Rest
An exploration while resting into story with Maria Souza of Women & Mythology

On one end of the spectrum here at The Art of Rest, we focus on getting good, grounded basic needs met for our body. We invoke the mature, archetypal parent. We make sure we are sleeping well, we learn how to manage our stress levels in a modern lifestyle. We learn supportive habits to bolster taking care of our physical bodies. We make sure we are nourished.
On the other end of the spectrum, The Art of Rest loves absolutely nothing more than expanding ourselves. We explore our creative edges. We listen to the imagery in our dreams. We honor and revere the stories, myths, and legends that land closest into our hearts. We are the magician, the trickster, and the crone in the back of the woods opening our mouths to the creative things that feed us.
When we live our lives creatively, the art takes care of the rest. When we prioritize sustaining rest, creativity cannot help but flourish.
Late this January, I had the absolute pleasure of unpacking the second half of the myth, The Handless Maiden with Maria Souza of Women & Mythology. I personally cannot say enough good things about Maria, her work sharing mythology and storytelling, and how it’s impacted my own personal sense of rest and inspired my inner, intuitive creativity.
I hope you enjoy this podcast episode where Maria and I explore creative imagery, storytelling, and connection through story.

This sub-section of The Art of Rest, is all about threads that hold us together—The Community Wisdom.
Here the Art of Rest honors and acknowledges there is no “one” right way that works for everyone. We believe deeply that a diversity of thoughts, creative practices, and perspectives is what keeps our lives rich and evolving. In this section, “Community Wisdom” is where we post short interviews with creatives, scientists, and restful people1 so that we might continue to learn from each other’s inherent and earned wisdom.
